All external degree examinations are conducted in Sinhala and English, other than language exams.

Changing the medium or subject registered

Each student will have one opportunity to change the medium of instruction or the registered subjects, within one month of registration with the CDCE. There after, the medium of instruction or the selected subjects cannot be changed under any circumstance.

ලියාපදිංචි වී ඇති මාධ්‍යය හෝ විෂය වෙනස් කිරීම

CDCE සමඟ ලියාපදිංචි වී මාසයක් ඇතුළත සෑම සිසුවෙකුටම මාධ්‍යය හෝ ලියාපදිංචි විෂයයන් වෙනස් කිරීමට එක් අවස්ථාවක් ලැබේ. ඉන් පසුව, කිසිදු හේතුවක් යටතේ ඉගැන්වීමේ මාධ්‍යය හෝ තෝරාගත් විෂයයන් වෙනස් කළ නොහැක.

A minimum of two weeks prior to the commencement of an examination every candidate eligible to sit the relevant examination will be issued an Admission form to that examination. In the event of a candidate not receiving such Admission form two weeks prior to the examination he/she must inform the External Examinations Branch of this University immediately.

විභාගයක් ආරම්භ වීමට අවම වශයෙන් සති දෙකකට පෙර අදාළ විභාගයට පෙනී සිටීමට සුදුසුකම් ඇති සෑම අපේක්ෂකයෙකුටම විභාග ප්‍රවේශ පත්‍ර නිකුත් කරනු ලැබේ. අයදුම්කරුවෙකු විභාගයට සති දෙකකට පෙර විභාග ප්‍රවේශ පත්‍ර නොලැබුනේ නම්, ඔහු / ඇය වහාම මෙම විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයේ බාහිර විභාග ශාඛාව වෙත දැනුම් දිය යුතුය.

1. Every registered candidate for a particular degree course must sit the relevant end of year examination, subject to the completion of necessary requirements.
2. Except under circumstances where express permission has been granted on the basis of acceptable medical grounds, every candidate must present himself / herself for the examination on one and the same occasion in every subject for which he/she has registered.
3. In the case of a candidate who has failed to appear for an examination or failed to complete an examination on acceptable medical grounds, the question of granting him/her an Honours Pass will be considered only if he/she repeats the examination in one sitting at the first available opportunity and passes that examination reaching a standard acceptable to the Board of Examiners as being one deserving an Honours Pass in accordance with examination regulations.
4. Those candidates who are referred must of necessity obtain a pass in the relevant subject in accordance with examination regulations.

2. පිළිගත හැකි වෛද්‍ය හේතූන් මත ප්‍රකාශිත අවසරය ලබා දී ඇති තත්ත්වයන් යටතේ හැර, සෑම අපේක්ෂකයෙකුම ඔහු/ඇය ලියාපදිංචි වී ඇති සෑම විෂයයක් සඳහාම එකම අවස්ථාවකදී විභාගය සඳහා පෙනී සිටිය යුතුය.
   
3. විභාගයකට පෙනී සිටීමට අපොහොසත් වූ හෝ පිළිගත හැකි වෛද්‍ය හේතූන් මත විභාගයක් සම්පූර්ණ කිරීමට අපොහොසත් වූ අපේක්ෂකයෙකු සම්බන්ධයෙන්, ඔහුට/ඇයට ගෞරව සාමාර්ථයක් ලබා දීමේ ප්‍රශ්නය සලකා බලනු ලබන්නේ ඔහු/ඇය විභාගය නැවත වරක් ඉදිරිපත් කළහොත් පමණි. තවද විභාගය ලබා ගැනීමට හැකි පළමු අවස්ථාවේ සහ විභාග රෙගුලාසිවලට අනුකූලව ගෞරව සාමාර්ථයක් ලැබීමට සුදුසු ලෙස විභාග මණ්ඩලයට පිළිගත හැකි ප්‍රමිතියකට එම විභාගය සමත්වී තිබීම.
   
4. නැවත පෙනී සිටින අයදුම්කරුවන් විභාග රෙගුලාසිවලට අනුකූලව අදාළ විෂය සඳහා සාමාර්ථයක් ලබා ගත යුතුය.

(a) A candidate when sitting an examination must at all times have in his/her possession his/her Admission Form and his/her Student Record Book. In case the Student Record Book is not produced when called for (at an examination) a student is liable to have his/her candidature cancelled. In the course of an examination if by mischance the Student Record Book is lost, steps must be taken immediately to inform the Senior Assistant Registrar of such loss and have a duplicate procured.

(b) If a candidate falls ill in such a manner as to prevent him/her sitting an examination or a part thereof, the External Examinations Branch must be informed immediately in writing, and a medical certificate acceptable to the Government from either a District Medical Officer or a Specialist Physician or Surgeon of a Government hospital must be submitted within one month of the candidate falling ill. (Medical certificates submitted after one month will be rejected).

*** All external candidates will be issued a detailed instruction sheet along with the examination admission form.

(අ) විභාගයකට පෙනී සිටින අපේක්ෂකයෙකු සෑම විටම ඔහු/ඇය සන්තකයේ ඔහුගේ/ඇයගේ විභාග ප්‍රවේශ පත්‍ර සහ ඔහුගේ/ඇයගේ ශිෂ්‍ය වාර්තා පොත තිබිය යුතුය. (විභාගයකට) කැඳවන විට ශිෂ්‍ය වාර්තා පොත ඉදිරිපත් නොකළහොත් ශිෂ්‍යයෙකු ඔහුගේ/ඇයගේ අපේක්ෂකත්වය අවලංගු කිරීමට බැඳී සිටී. විභාගයකදී අහඹු ලෙස ශිෂ්‍ය වාර්තා පොත නැතිවූයේ නම්, එය පිළිබඳ ජ්‍යෙෂ්ඨ සහකාර රෙජිස්ට්‍රාර්වරයාට දන්වා අනුපිටපතක් ලබා ගැනීමට වහාම පියවර ගත යුතුය.

(ආ) අපේක්ෂකයෙකු රෝගාතුරවීම හේතුවෙන් විභාගයකට හෝ එහි කොටසකට පෙනී සිටීමට නොහැකිවූවහොත්, වහාම බාහිර විභාග ශාඛාව වෙත ලිඛිතව දැනුම් දිය යුතු අතර, අපේක්ෂකයා අසනීප වී මාසයක් ඇතුළත විශේෂඥ වෛද්‍යවරයකු හෝ ශල්‍ය වෛද්‍යවරයකු හෝ රජයේ දිස්ත්‍රික් වෛද්‍යවරයකුගෙන් පිළිගත හැකි වෛද්‍ය සහතිකයක් ඉදිරිපත් කළ යුතුය. (මසකට පසු ඉදිරිපත් කරන වෛද්‍ය සහතික ප්‍රතික්ෂේප කරනු ලැබේ).

*** සියලුම බාහිර අයදුම්කරුවන්ට විභාග ප්‍රවේශ පත්‍රය සමඟ සවිස්තරාත්මක උපදෙස් පත්‍රිකාවක් නිකුත් කරනු ලැබේ.

1. Bringing notes, diagrams, articles etc. into the examination hall and having them on one's possession or nearby or using them when examinations are in progress.
2. Removing stationery, tables etc. supplied by the University from the examination hall.
3. Copying, helping to copy or an attempting to help for such a malpractice.
4. Impersonation.

In the event an examination malpractice is proved, the Senate of the University of Kelaniya under the privileges given by the Universities Act could impose the following punishments:

1. Cancellation of candidacy of the relevant paper / subject or the whole examination.
2. Suspension / Cancellation of registration.
3. Debarring from sitting the examination for a stipulated period of time with or without a fine being imposed.
4. Any other punishment meted out by the University Senate.

විභාග අක්‍රමිකතා කිහිපයක් පහත දැක්වේ.

1. සටහන්, රූප සටහන්, ලිපි ආදිය විභාග ශාලාවට ගෙන ඒම සහ ඒවා තමා සන්තකයේ හෝ ළඟ තබා ගැනීම හෝ විභාග පැවැත්වෙන විට ඒවා භාවිතා කිරීම.

විභාග අක්‍රමිකතාවක් ඔප්පු වුවහොත් විශ්වවිද්‍යාල පනත මගින් ලබා දී ඇති වරප්‍රසාද යටතේ කැලණිය විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයේ සනාතන සභාවට පහත දඩුවම් පැනවිය හැක.

1. අදාළ ප්‍රශ්න පත්‍රය / විෂය හෝ සම්පූර්ණ විභාගයේ අපේක්ෂකත්වය අවලංගු කිරීම.
2. ලියාපදිංචිය අත්හිටුවීම / අවලංගු කිරීම.
3. දඩයක් නියම කර හෝ රහිතව නියමිත කාලයක් සඳහා විභාගයට පෙනී සිටීම තහනම් කිරීම.
4. විශ්ව විද්‍යාල සනාතන සභාව විසින් දෙනු ලබන වෙනත් ඕනෑම දඬුවමක්.

Under no circumstances for any reason whatever will there be a re-scrutiny of answer scripts of external degree examinations.

කිසිම හේතුවක් මත බාහිර උපාධි විභාගවල පිළිතුරු පත්‍ර නැවත පරීක්ෂා කිරීමක් සිදු නොකරනු ඇත.

Issuing certificates

Partial Grade Report can be obtained after paying a sum of money, for an essential reason after the registration, in first/second or third years.

Academic Record that is given after Senate Approval, will be issued to each undergraduate by the Institute. If an extra copy needed, it can be obtained by paying a sum of money.

Confidential Academic Transcript can be obtained after handing over a letter of request. That will be sent to the relevant higher education institute.

Issuing degree certificate

Degree Certificates will be issued on a date decided by the Kelaniya University, after the convocation.

All External candidates are required to follow instructions given below when they wish to contact the External Examinations Branch in person, in writing or via telephone. However, a registered external student is permitted to contact the External Examinations Branch any time on an urgent matter.
