Student Orientation Programme – 2025

The Student Orientation Programme for students who have registered for the Bachelor of Arts General (External) degree programme at the Center for Distance and Continuing Education, University of Kelaniya for the academic year 2024 was held on Saturday 31st May 2025 at the Faculty Auditorium of the Faculty of Computing and Technology, University of Kelaniya.

The Orientation programme commenced with the staff procession presided by Ven. Dr. Dodamkumbure Dhammadassi Thero, Director of the Center for Distance and Continuing Education (CDCE) and then the University anthem was played. Subsequently, a short film regarding the courses and the activities of the CDCE was played and Senior Professor Nilanthi de Silva, Vice-chancellor of the University of Kelaniya welcomed the freshers and wished them for their success at this moment.

Ven. Dr. Dodamkumbure Dhammadassi Thero, Director of the Center for Distance and Continuing Education (CDCE), presided over this Student Orientation Programme. Ven. Uduwela Rewatha Thero, Deputy Director / CDCE ,Mr. Darshana Sampath Somarathne, Deputy Director / CDCE, Prof. Kusum Herath, Academic Coordinator / Faculty of Humanities of the Bachelor of Arts General (External) degree programme, Ms. Waruni Wickramarachchi, Academic Coordinator / Faculty of Social Science of the Bachelor of Arts General (External) degree programme graced the occasion. Mr. S. Manivannan, Senior Assistant Registrar / CDCE, Ms. S.C. Wickramanayake, Assistant Bursar / CDCE, Ms. Rajini Aloka, Academic Coordinator/ CBEN Programme, Mr. Sameera Madhusanka, Academic Coordinator/ CBIT Programme, Ms. Sathsara Perera, Academic Coordinator/ CBWT Programme, and Mr. D.P.D.M. Senadheera, Audio Visual Technical Officer / CDCE addressed the students on different topics.

The students were given Student Hand Book, Syllabus Book, Student Identity Card and Registration Confirmation letter with User Name and Password of Learning Management System (LMS).

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. Darshana Sampath Somarathne, Deputy Director / CDCE and the National Anthem.
